Duke is a higher rank than Earl. Dukes can sometimes be royal, the monarch's sons sometimes have titles, like the second son is traditonally the Duke of York. But most dukes are noble, not royal. Earls and barons are not royalty, they are nobility.

yeah, i dont remember exact order. But, i have a game where you can be a sea-dog and you get those titles Duke is highesr and baron is lowest I think
