Almost everyone who has driven a car has done this. Battery not dead, just in cardiac arrest. Apply electric shock to regain consciousness.

No, I've never done that (and the last couple of cars I've owned automatically shut the lights off even if you leave them on).

I think so. Actually, one time, I parked and was waiting for a long time... with the lights on! Then I went to turn the ignition and it was dead.

Yes, but not any more, I finally am able to get the little thing to turn off all by itself. Fan-dangle new cars.

I don't have a car, but I've done this with other appliances. It's especially a pain with flashlights, and happens much more frequently when you have kids.
