the hemi in the top fuel dragsters is based on the second gen hemi (426) it has very little in common with the new hemi

The concept of the HEMI engine is a good one, in that it makes for more efficient combustion, but it's not so far advanced that no other engine can compare. After getting sick of hearing "That thing got a HEMI?" from my TV, I would say that HEMI engines can be impressive, but yes, they are overrated. I can get the same kind of performance by turbocharging many current production engines, and with better gas mileage.

I have owned two of the real hemis 426. And this new motor is a joke. I think it's mopars way of trying to make money on the fame of the old muscle cars and it seems to be working from all of them you see on the road

I work at an auto auction so I drive alot of the hemi's the chargers and 300's are pretty quick. They maybe a little overated but ,how come Top Fuel draggsters use them!

I agree, the new Hemi's aren't what they used to be. It's pretty much the Chevy's "Vortec" for Dodge.

my hubby is a heavy line mechanic at hubular dodge, VERY overrated and he proved it with a blazer of all things
