Yes, there are bad lawyers. I know becauses my father was one of them!

I have a friend who is a lawyer and his is very good and honest WITHIN HIS SPECIALTY but is a weasel when it comes to evertything else!

So check with friends and look around rather than just getting a lawyer out of the yellow pages.

Yes, there are bad lawyers. Some are bad at their job, though they don't mean to be. Others are "bad" in the sense that they purposefully do bad things.

However, there are also very good lawyers...ones who are good at their job and ones that are good in that they use their knowledge and education to help those less fortunate. Friends of mine went into the practice of law to advocate on behalf of children, others went into law to protect the rights of elderly clients.

If lawyers cost a fortune, it's because they can do many things that a non-lawyer cannot do. And many lawyers will take cases pro bono (for free) in certain cases. Also, if you're convicted of a felony, you can get a free lawyer to defend you.

Oh, absolutely. There is corruption in all professions. Lawyers have the advantage of turning the wheels of justice to support their arguments, and a lot of tricks up their sleeve that, believe it or not, are legal. However, there are good lawyers and bad. The best way to choose a competent lawyer with integrity is by word of mouth. If others are pleased with the way their case was handled, that's the lawyer to retain.

Well, I know two good lawyers, one is non-practicing, and the other is a retired brigadier general (non-practicing). So basically, if they are lawyers that don't practice, then they might be decent.

confident. Many. those few (ok, not so few, yet not all) who violate their ethical popular jobs supply the completed occupation a bad call. What you may desire to understand approximately legal specialists, is that "appropriate" and "incorrect" are fuzzy ethical concepts that don't have a sparkling place in the regulation. legal specialists are required to stay with ethical codes enacted via their state bars, which define what's "appropriate" and "incorrect" for them. they might or would possibly not tournament up with anybody else's definitions. And granted, there are assorted legal specialists obtainable who violate their ethical popular jobs. yet it rather is a separate venture (see above). legal specialists additionally are required to obey the guidelines as written and as interpreted via the courts. those rules additionally do not consistently tournament up with what persons might define as "appropriate" and "incorrect". case in point, the U. S. perfect courtroom has suggested that that's appropriate for a city to take somebody's living house away to construct a procuring mall. (Kelo v. New London, 2005). maximum folk believe that may not "appropriate". although, that's criminal. And if the criminal expert is confronted with that seize 22 subject, they have sworn an oath to stay with the regulation. So, "appropriate" and "incorrect" aside (by way of fact they have too many meanings), there are assorted criminal specialists obtainable who do their terrific every day to uphold the severe ethical standards set for his or her occupation. And regrettably, there are various that do not. which provides something people a bad call.
