Was there ever a tournament to declare the official greatest wrestler? I'm talking about an official best wrestler and not a best wrestler in the fans opinion.

The closest to that tournament is the King Of The Ring.Actually if you based it on title wins,Ric Flair is the greatest,16-time World Champ. The Undertaker's winning streak,14-0 at wrestlemania can also be used to declare the official best wrestler.

Kurt Angle has a Gold Medal and has beaten nearly everyone in the business today. He is a good technical wrestler and has decent strength too.

thers no way to delare that...whos to say hulk hogan in his prime could beat the rock or HHH was better than rick flair in his prime or the Big Show would be better than Andre..There really is no way to tell who is the best from 60 years ago compared to now- A site PWI (pro wrestling illustrated) ranks wrestlers from all eras from #1-500 but that's the only source to really tell-based on longevity, popularity and accomplishments..

heres a year by year ranking list link if it helps
