As a corrections officer I am in charge of 80 plus inmates in a dormitory setting. Getting them to listen is EXHAUSTING, I have my own methods but would like to hear yours.

Nice try! If you really are a correctional officer, and not a relative/homie of an inmate trying to beat the system, you wouldn't be asking this question. Ask your inmate relative/homie how it goes down. Who do you roll with!?

Let's see gunpoint is out, that's not legal. Bribeing them with cookies and milk? How about monetary reward for the one that remembers the most of what you say. Maybe, offer them drugs, or better yet give them drugs to settle them down. Offer them a little naked party with you. Is being last in line for execution an option. No, you said dormitory setting. Starve them into submission? How about making it interesting like in kindergarder storytime? Pamper them, that should work, most everyone appreciates good treatment.

I am not sure what type of inmates are you referring to, but I suppose some form of incentives might help you to draw inmates' attention. Such incentives might probably include a 'goody bag' containing some goodies such as biscuits, apples, course leaflets, etc. It need not be expensive.

If your inmates aren't cooperating then you're not in charge. Take out that night stick of yours and bang it on the desk. You might have to smack one of them with it so they know you'll use it. Yes, the threat of pain is your best weapon. It's your job to make them respect you. Then you'll have control.

take the ones that are unruley and hose them down with a fire hose.or you could telll them you gonna have their good time taken away from them. or you could make them stand at attention for long period then next time you tell them to listen they will.
