Washinton was attacked & burned
the US behaved themselves and left Canada alone

The U.S. was still a fledgling upstart and the British Navy was stopping our merchant traders and conscripting sailors for indentured servitude to the British Navy. In most cases the Brits said that the sailors were just deserters and they could legally be conscripted.
One major event was the burning of the Executive Mansion in Washington, D.C. The president and first lady just barely missed being taken prisoner. I think it was the Madison's, Dolly and James.
