I'm making my christmas card list up.. and does anyone actually notice if they don't get one? It seems like a huge waste of paper and postage... and I really hate to send pictures of the kids out cause I'm sure all but like 10 of the people on my list will just throw them away..

I think Christmas cards are made to be given to people so that they will feel guilty about NOT sending the sender a card! I also think this is kind of an insurance plan of increasing their chance of receiving a card from YOU next year...you know, since you FORGOT last year and you're soooo embarrassed!! And of course everyone wants to receive these precious little "friend trophies" to hang up around their house so that when friends visit they'll be ever so impressed on how totally POPULAR you are!!!! And then finally, as a result of them discovering how truly FABULOUS you are, they'll thank the good Lord for the day they were LUCKY enough to have ever even met your GREAT & WONDERFUL SELF!!! One word of advice however, always remember to buy DESIGNER cards, you know, the one's that run about a couple bucks more than let's say uh...the Hallmarks cards! This is even more impressive because not only are you now known as POPULAR... (blah, blah, blah) but you've got classy friends!. What an optimal place in life to be, eh? And one more reason to fork out the extra $'s on those "better" cards: People (in the know, of course) really aren't into putting up (i.e., junking-up!!) their beautiful homes with those cheap little boxed cards from the Dollar Tree ....soooooooo embarassing!!

P.S. Don't send those silly little family photo cards either...again, those "people in the know" typically send a small picture of the family &/or kids, taken by that well known (very expensive) photographer in town!! Anyway...this is just what those "IN people" tell me! Now me...that's a whole different story...

I only send to friends and family that I don't get to see often. I enjoy sending and I read and enjoy the ones I get from them. I like the most the ones that have a note about what they have been doing for the past year. Pictures are great, Don't send to those 10 if you don't want too but I would bet most people are like me and enjoy them along with all the other traditions that go along with Christmas. I always feel like its a time when I get to remind myself how many family and friends I have.Merry Christmas.

YES YES YES The spirit of Christmas still alive, Do by yourself the Christmas cards, funny, elegant, on recycled paper, with the help of your kids. Just do it and enjoy the process, send them and don't worry if people throw away or keep in the time capsule for the next 15 years, If you do it with love and your heart you may give to the people the chance to remember you and send you blessings for the time and great moment you are giving to them.
Merry Christmas to you and to your kids.

I guess you should be selective and send cards to the people you really want to send your love and show that you care. If those people don't read your cards it is because they don't care, or they don't know what Christmas is about.
I read all my cards because they come from friends and family, people that I cherrish and I think this brings me good energy.
It's good to know that you matter, not that you are just another number on a list.

I love getting Christmas cards, and pretty much always read them. I put a family picture in my cards also... if you dont think everyone will keep the pic, why dont you just put pics in the cards for your close friends and family. That's what I do.

I read them - the greeting on the card and the notes they come with. I only send cards to close family and friends, and only pictures to family.

I love getting Christmas cards, with or without pictures. And I love the Christmas letters some of my friends tuck in them. In fact, I have a box full of my favorites. Would I notice if I didn't get one from a particular friend? You bet!

I can't imagine that, as special as it is to get a 'REAL' piece of mail and not junk mail, especially something as pretty as a Christmas card, would be overlooked and thrown away. I would think it would have to be the most spoiled, selfish person who would do such a thing. Please, don't stop sending your cards, it is a lost art form to send "real" mail.
Send it in spite of the selfishness and be an example of blessing, whether they appreciate it or not.

Send your cards. People always read their mail weither they want to or not. Do something creative, like draw pictures on the envelopes, or put, "money inside" on each on. I guarantee that they will open their mail.

yes i read my christmas cards.. my kids and i put up a wall map and when we get a card we put a pin on the map.. this is because my husband and i belong to a yahoo group and we sign up and send out a list of people who want to send christmas card to others so when we get cards in the mail we put a pin so we know where it came from.. we have friends as far away as north carolina and as close as the same town we live in.. the kids love it..
