Most likely. The majority know very little about candidates or politics at all for that matter yet feel they must vote. There should be a test you have to pass on each candidate before voting. It would lead to a more intelligent government.

Since I hate all politicians, I will tell you how stupid most voters are: They vote all democrat because they are democrat; they vote all republican because they are republican; they vote for a candidate because their daddy told them to vote for a candidate; they vote for a candidate because they like his smile; they vote conservative because of religious beliefs...

Flat out, people use no common sense when voting, and that is the reason that politicians rule this country. That is the reason this country is so screwed up.

With the information age, we should know better by now.

That's a good a reason as any. I honestly can't think of a better reason why anyone with a brain would vote for that corrupt megalomaniac.

Yes, kind of. We vote for things that are likable and familiar. Kerry, admit it, was not likable. He was voted for out of hate for Bush. Bush is so cute and funny and watch Will Ferrel play him on SNL. Sure, he's got his flaws (well, a lot) but we vote for someone who seems to be authentic and have a sense of community. So if Bush looks like your grandfather, he has both of those things. Politics isn't much different from advertising, humans like comforting, familiar things.

the smarter you get in politics, the more you will learn it is not always what a person does or has done that gets them elected. a lot of times it is their looks and nothing more. and that is also why politicians will promise everybody everything during the election season and any sensible person should know that there is no way that all those promises can be kept.
