I would get some legal advice. Did you husband sign anything or was it a verbal thing over the phone? What are they going to do if you refuse to pay the bills. They will have to take legal action against you to get the money and that in itself would cost them more than the whole bill itself. I also think your husband could argue that he was deliberately mis-informed because he thought it was 68.48 a year...so somebody told him something that misled him and it is against the law to mislead a person in an attempt to get a sale. Seek some legal advice first.

Sounds very shady... What exactly are you getting for that money? There should be a change of mind or cancelation clause.. How about contacting the news media.. Read the small print on the contract, if one was signed. How about also contacting someone in the military to help... Don't pay any more and start making phone calls..I hope you get this solved.. Good luck

I would start by contacting the Attorney Generals office in your state, and tell them what is going on, I don't know all the details of your situation, but that sounds pretty fishy. Oh, also, check the company with the better business bureau also, you can actually do this on-line. Also, did you pay out of your bank account? Or a credit card? If the Attorney Generals office thinks that this may be a fraudulent company, or committing fraud of any kind, I would check into getting your money back, however it is you paid for it.

Dang! How many magaizines did he order? They have your bank account number, they don't need a social. Sounds like he got scammed, but with no paperwork to back up the deal,it's his word against theirs. Change your account number to be on the safe side. Talk to a laywer. Call the Dave Ramsey show. (radio talk show). But in the mean time, to save ya'lls credit, pay the bill. Or give the crooks the $400 and you learn an important lesson. Also, get the contract in writing, like your husband should've done in the first place. But if you cancel, definately get the cancellation paper stating with balance owed to cancel and make a copy for future reference before paying them the $400.
PS...tell your husband "Thanks for serving".

They will try to bully you - write them a letter, very neatly worded, sound almost like an attorney and tell them that you weren't aware that it was per month and you are cancelling your agreement. Inform them that if they send you another bill or contact you in any way that you'll inform your attorney and bring suit against them.
As long as they know you won't be bullied they should back off. Good luck.

For 66.48 a month you better be getting a ton of magazines , I think you should contact the better business bureau in your town and find out what is going on and if appropriate have the prose cuter in your town look into any illegalities that might be surfacing. It may be a way to scam military wives.

The military tries to take care of their own. They have a legal department which supplies legal assistance to soldiers and their families. Ask him to contact the legal person in his unit.
Other choice is to contact the Federal Senator's office for your state, they have offices in most cities in a state, and what they do is try to help people with problems to get votes for their boss. Go to them, and tell them your husband is in Iraq, and a magazine company has pulled a fast one with false representation, and ask them if there is anything you can do.
Another choice is to write a letter to your local newspaper, and tell what has been done to you. Mention them by name.

How many magazines did your husband order? Something don't sound right. If twelve magazines cost $25.00 a year sounds like he order 10-15 magazines for 4 years is that right? If so then they are right. SORRY!

Oh, wow that's a sticky situation. In the long run it would be cheaper to cancel, so I would probably do that. I'm sorry that got dumped on you and I pray for your husbands safety.
