It's aggrivating my husband's asthma, so I'm hoping to get rid of more than just the smell...??

Throw it in your washing machine. One or two wash cycles should remove a lot of the volatile organic compounds.

If still a problem, let it dry in the sunlight for a day.

I spent a lot for a shower curtain and the smell was horrible and it never did go away. I changed to cloth and a cheaper liner, open the package a bit and smell it in the store before you buy. I like this much better.

Oh I do know what he is going through. Fill you bathtub with dawn and warm water, and set your shower curtain in and leave it there for about 20 Min's. If you have a window open it, that will help also. And tell him to take his albuteral.
