I'm writing a contest speech and I need some examples of what harm forgetting has done, specifically forgetting the price paid for our soldiers. And I need an idea or two on how we can further honor those who gave of themselves for us

Never forget that Bush lied about Iraq and has caused thousands of needless suffering and deaths.
What you want to write some BS spin, some heart wrenching GOP piece devoid of the real issues? Do you want to take pride in sending Troops do die for a pack of lies?

A great example of "forgetting doing harm" is the Neville Chamberlain "Peace In Our Time" speech.
Most people forget that right before WWII Chamberlain went to Germany and signed a treaty of non- aggression with Hitler. He came back to England proclaiming "Peace in our time". Within a few years Europe was in the middle of WWII and the treaty was a useless piece of paper.

When we get assurances from Foreign Governments regarding the security of our country or the committments of alliance we should be very wary of them and make decisions based in our needs and not their fears. Forgetting George Washington's wishes that we avoid foreign entangelments is another example.

I'm so poor I can't afford to pay attention ... it's the imbecilic voters that throw away their freedom of an honest vote even after
thousands of Americans die for it ! You can't vote for either of the two party system these days they are are actors abfuscating the truth of their cohorts on either side (rep. or dem.) so don't waste a vote hold it back and send a message to the despots of America... or at least vote independent! it's about the same
peace out and enjoy life

I think it is really important to remember the way they danced in the streets of Lebanon after 9-11.

Equally important is how they danced in the streets of Baghdad when the statue of Saddam came down.

Also, the smiling faces as people held up their ink-stained fingers after voting for the first time in Iraq...

In world war II there was a country that gave in and negotiated with the Nazis to stop the war, but Hitler wanted war and he kept fighting anyway. Today many people want to have negotiations with terrorist rather that fight a war. Again they will be killed by people that want to rule the world, not peace. This is a lesson that should not be forgotten.

I remember when all of congress stood together on the steps after 9-11. Too bad they forgot about it the next day.
