Well, it depends if you'll need math for any of the majors you're thinking of. If you're leaning towards the sciences, engineering, math itself, or computer science, then it's generally good to just get through the math as long as you feel that you wouldn't be in completely over your head (though for some of the early courses, like Calculus I or II, that feeling comes around even when you're doing okay... :) ). Those kinds of majors generally rely very heavily on math preparation, particularly physics and math. Physics I know generally wants you to get as far into calculus as you reasonably can as possible (because once you know calculus, it strangely makes it easier for your professors and TAs to explain things to you, or at least it makes them feel better about how they're explaining it to you... :) ). Of course if you don't feel very good about your prospects in the higher level class and feel that taking the lower level class would improve your prospects for eventually taking the higher level class, then by all means take the lower level class.
Now, if you're not really interested in the sciences and just need to fulfill a requirement, then there's no good reason to take a class which would tax your time and patience when there are easier classes available. I suppose if you were interested in the higher level class, you could take it, but if you're not in the sciences it doesn't matter so much (at least as far as I know).

It depends on what other classes are filling your schedule. But working to your potential is always a good idea. Taking the harder math class might open up new opportunities. But also keep in mind your major (you can always switch majors most college students do 1-3 times) and how this will help you move towards it.
Good Luck and congratulations on getting into college no simple feat.

of course you should take the class which will match up with your math level. it's not high school, you're actually paying hundreds on these classes and if you must pass the math class you're taking right now is a prerequisite class for your major then try to work as hard as you can to pass it. I've been in the same situation too, where they've placed me in calculus class (I've barely took precalculus in high school!) that I had to struggled a lot to passed it with a B+, which is wasn't too bad after all. just remember that all the hard work will pay off at the end. hope this help :)

If math is involved in your major, you need it or are interested in it then take it. If you're just a genius then leave it alone, and don't stress yourself out because it will detract from your other classes in the long run.
I made the mistake of doing that with a bio class (parental pressure), which in the end I dropped but gave me a totally unnecessary amount of stress when I was in it, so trust me, I've been in that situation before, if you don't like or need it take the easy course. Whatever job you apply for doesn't get a report card, they just see the diploma. Plus you don't wanna mess with your GPA.

take a class which is on your level, and work harder..
beacuse its what you deserve,.. and you deserve better.
one thing is, its the better way to know, how far you could go and know your fullest self.. though its really quite challenging.
y settle for mediocrity?
and besides, its good to know you're dong great, but its best to know urself, and know how big your gift is from GOD as a person.
im sure, you have to do it your best.. for a purpose.
and dont throw it away, not everybody is as skilled as you are..
so you have to increase your area of influence to help others in the near future.
=) be grateful for it. you have what it takes to be the next big thing.
=)
