Because they are creepy. And they move so fast you can't tell what they are thinking.

I guess it's just sort of a phobia, there are some strange phobias that can't be explained. I'm definitely afraid of spiders and I can't kill them either not because I like them but because I'm afraid it will jump on me if I get to close.

I'm afraid of the things that can harm me.
Spiders, snakes, sharks and giant centipedes are the animals around me that could kill, disfigure or put me in hosp[ital. And are not pests. I usually relocate any that I find. Or in the case of sharks relocate myself.
Pests I find on me or in the house are dead, except mice.

But I really, really like the jumping spiders. Cute little things.

It's actually very simple. Two things scare people about spiders.

1. Their venom

2. Their inability to detect spiders

They're so small you can't find them, and therefore you won't be able to kill them before they bite you can inject their venom into your veins. Plenty of rational fear there.

People run away don't tell running away reason. Many. But not outside running, inside running. Spiders running is many legs. Too many! It is hard. But local spiders is good by little bugs not wanted. Eat it.

I hate them cant give you an honest answer why. I'm only really afraid of the poisonous ones, here where I live black widows and brown recluse. I kill anything else but they still freak me out a bit.

It's good to be afraid of spiders......all spiders have venom, some more toxic than others. They use the venom to liquefy protein (bugs, etc) then they suck the juices. So stay away from them.

It could be Arachnophobia or some people just get the thought of this crazy a*s little hairy thing with eight legs crawling all over you, and maybe even in your hair. Also people are afraid they might get bitten.

some spiders are poisonous, others, like those stripped ones you find out doors on webs have a pretty healthy bite, not being able to recognize which is which, people shun all, better safe than sorry.

One of my friends is terrified of spiders because once when he was young, he went into an abandoned house and got entangled in huge gobs of spider webs and spiders.

I myself like spiders. They're in my basement keeping the ant/fly/creep crawly population down. It works.

Sometimes teeny baby spiders land on me when I'm waiting for the bus. They're so cuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuute.

It's usually an inherited fear. When we as children see our parents of friends react to certain things, its sets a pattern in our minds of what and what not to be afraid of.

I know spiders can't hurt us, in fact their afraid of us! But I am still pertrified of them!
