Down's syndrome is rarely inherited - 95% of the time it is caused by an error in meiosis. Down's is not caused by a recessive gene - it is an extra copy of chromosome number 21.
Women with Down's are fertile; men are usually sterile.
In any pregnancy, a woman with Down syndrome has a 50/50 chance of conceiving a child with Down syndrome, but many pregnancies are miscarried.

I asked my Anayomy teacher this and he said that most women with down syndrome don't produce viable eggs (they can't grow into anything). And yes, trisome 21 (down syndrome) is a recessive gene. Both parents have to be carriers for the child to have it and even then the chances are only 25%.

If a woman with Downs Syndrome gave birth she would have a baby. It is a hereditary condition but the chid would not neseccarily be a Downs Syndrome baby. It depends if the father has the condition in his family or not.

It would depend on who the father was as well. It is difficult to know if she would or not .. I'm sure she wouldn't be the first person who happens to have downs syndrome to give birth. Good Luck ! :)

it would be the same if you had any type of medical issues that ran in your family..its a 50/50 thing..her child could have but then again could not..and that child would also run the risk of having a downs child also...its just a roll of the dice is guess.

no, i dont think that it would be passed to her child, i mean, there are some midgettes that give birth, and they have normal size kids.
