Or are the character types highly exaggerated to represent an ultra conservative perspective of American teen life?

This is not a joke question or a trap question.

Sometimes I like to learn about other countries and cultures.

Today I watched 7th Heaven for the first time, just by fluke. The whole philosophy behind the programme is totally unlike anything I've seen on TV ever!

You get a character that is a Reverend. You get teen characters who value things that are not connected with sex and the usual modern teen culture.

It's unusual. I may not agree with a few of 7th Heaven's philosophies, but I still find it - dare I say - refreshing, considering the alternatives out there.

Kindly refer to my abovementioned question.

F.y.i. I live in Asia. And frankly, I have never personally met anybody with such strong personal convictions as the 7th Heaven characters - except a few of my relatives, but that's a different story.

I live in the US midwest where alot of people have same values as on the show for the most part; the only neg. I find with the show is all the kids talk like they have college degrees, even the 8 yr olds.

Yeah, there are some people out there that exist like that family. I don't know what episode you watched, but the kids are not exactly perfect and it shows. It's kind of cool though, because they show the some challenges of a teen. I know that everything isn't always like it is potrayed, but it gets close.

This may sound old-fashioned, but I try to raise my family with Christian values like the 7th Heaven family (they're called the Camdens I think). It's very difficult to raise a teenager, a preteen, and even a toddler with my values when there are songs out there like "I'm in Love With a Stripper" and eleven year-olds are talking about when they lost their virginity. The toughest thing for me is trying to keep them (and myself) in step with society without compromising our Christian values.

Yea there out here all right. Especially here in the Midwest. Maybe not to much. Ever watch Rosanne. That's pretty realistic for the middle U.S.A.

Yeah it's possible. There are nosy family members that try to help out too much and there are other who have just the right amount of caring qualities.
