Their priorities are wrong which is why they are on welfare; ie, the inability to delay gratification and a pattern of poor choices in life. They live day to day with no idea how to prioritize and this pattern frequently has been modelled by parents and other family members.

It's not they can afford it, they do without necessities to have luxuries.
Unfortunately, my sister and brother in-law are on welfare. They still smoke Marlboro's (name brand) rather than a generic.
Instead of purchasing what they need, they buy what they want.
It's sad, but ever notice children in the grocery stores in soaked filled diapers and mom and dad are buying beer?

Some have mates who can buy cigarettes for them. I had a lady friend on welfare once,she was my first sex partner. I bought
her cigarettes every payday,sometimes by the carton.

Most of them get on welfare because of their addictions. So basically they are going on with their smoking but getting money for it.

Because they use their welfare check to buy the cigs and then forget to feed the kids and pay the hydro bill.

Sure glad I choose to have a better life that they do! They choose to live that way... so I am glad that they are happy !

It's because it's a strong addiction. Just because it's legal doesn't mean it's not evil. It's a shame but hey, it keeps Big Tobacco's wallet nice and fat!

I have no clue, I have wondered this myself. Maybe theyre bumming money from friends to buy them. It IS pretty pathetic.

Because our socialist government needs their votes and gives them everything they want. after all it is only our hard earned money that goes to lazy people who do not want to work. As I was told once shut up and keep working they need our taxes.
