Excellent question. The multiple tax rates base on income level was one of this country's first steps toward socialism.

The only fair tax would be a flat tax.

We have a quasi capitalism society as are other countries claiming to be communism they are also quasi.
China which claim to still follow communism has many very wealthy people.

The world is changing rapidly and so is the system we live under.

Just look at some of our representatives. Most of the democrates of today are wealth communist. Nanci Pelosi of Calif. is a pure example her and Bush are the same, both believe in outsourcing and bring in cheap labor.
Our tax system is the same the poor pay nothing and reap all the benefits and get back more then they put in, Tax credits.

The middle class supports both the rich and poor in higher taxes in the manner of subsiding the poor so the wealthy can make or produce products so they can sell in the foreign markets to be competitive but still holding high prices in the US for the middle class to buy. Think about it.

So you want law enforcement and the military to work for nothing, while I agree that the congress should work for nothing I think there are several services of the government that need to be maintained and we pay taxes to do that. However there is much waste in the government that we could cut and one of these is the 10 billion dollars that goes to Iraq every month.

Our tax system is more confiscatory than anything else. The top 1% of wage earners pay one third of taxes. The top 25% pay nearly 85% of all taxes.

The poor pay very little to no taxes. It's quite unjust.
