Draft a petition stating the grounds for divorce, put the requisite stamps (duty) on it, and file it with the Registry of the court

whomeve works in that dept at the courthouse should be able to assist u however trying doing a yahoo search for your state w/ divorce papers or how to file for divorce in the search

depends on if you have kids, house, how much mutual funds you have between the two of you. if your life is complicated then you will want a lawyer. if not so complicated like no kids, renting and your funds are still seperate or are easily seperated then i guess you can go without a lawyer. However this is a difficult question because it depends on what state you are in per local laws.

Call your courthouse and ask about a Pro Se packet--no lawyers are involved here in WI, & that's how we did it. You CAN do it with a child, but only if all support and custody issues are resolved.

I FILED MY OWN DIVORCE, IT'S CALLED PRO SE, I GOT THE INFORMATION OFF THE INTERNET SHOWING EXAMPLES OF FORMS, THEN JUST TYPED MY OWN, TOOK THEM TO THE COURTHOUSE AND FILED THEM, WITHIN 60 DAYS OF FILING I WAS DIVORCED, BUT REMEMBER YOU MUST HAVE A WAVIER SIGNED BY YOUR FUTURE EX EXCLUDING HIM TO APPEAR FOR THE DIVORCE, BUT IT'S ALL SIMPLE.

Without an attorney, your divorce first needs to be uncontested. If it is then you and your ex-partner just need to research your state laws and follow the directions of the court.

If you go to the county clerk they will let you know what you need and then you go to the library and make copies out of the book they have fill them out and file them.
