i have great spark and compression. fuel is getting to the cylinder. but i still cant get the engine to fire up. it doesnt seem like this motor has ever had a reed valve. do all 2 strokes have a reed valve? this motor is 49cc goped scooter motor. exhaust pipe is also clean and clear. can anyone help me with this nightmare???

Double check your float valve and pilot screw settings, maybe mixture too far off. Also if you can, check your timing and make sure your points line up with top dead center

No not all 2 cycle have valves, some just have ports in the cylinder walls. I don't know what you got but often they won't fire if its old and compression is to low.

All 2 strokes have a reed valve. What are the ratios you are using in the gas/oil mixture?

Has it ever run for you? If you bought it used, someone might have left the reed valve out. And yes, it does have one. Go back and read my previous answer.

With all the cranking you have been doing,the crankcase should be full of fuel by now.Lay the bike over with plug removed and kick it over to empty the cases.

check the timing, if you had the motor apart theres a good chance it's off, off just a little bit will cause it not to run.

Have you tried shooting a little starting fluid into the carb?
