This girl was my best friend all through elementary and part of middle school, but we sort of drifted last year, and now she's gotten a really bad reputation (slut, basically, with some other nasty things sometimes). The thing is, some of the things she says (and does and wears) really do make her seem that way. Friends have tried to tell her this, but she's really stubborn (I mean REALLY stubborn) and never listens to anyone. I still talk to her, and occasionally hang out with her, but i'm afraid ppl are going to think i'm a slut, too. What should i do??

If you are not behaving in this way and you are not dressing in this way then you will likely not be judged in this way.

If she needs a friend and you want to be her friend, then call her. Friends are not identical. They are, however, dependable.

If you are really worried about appearances, then maybe you should talk to her about the interpretation of her behaviors. maybe she doesn't know how people are responding to what she is putting out into the world.

Still, be her friend. That is what is important. If her stubborness is getting in the way of your friendship, let her know that as well.

We are judged by the company we keep. But people at your school should know you & know that you are not like her. Your true friends, the ones who matter won't judge you.
As far as what to do about her, she has a mind of her own & she's not going to change. Take her shopping if you can. Get her a decent outfit for Christmas if you can. Drop hints, point out how bad other sl*tty girls look the way they are dressed & how they're talked about.
Maybe she's having trouble at home & she's doing this because she needs the attention.

This girl needs some friends that are OK ppl.....Don't just drop her because she is REALLY stubborn...Keep trying to help her to realize that guys will only want her for sex and no lasting relationship if she keeps on the way she is...

You can be yourself, and let her be herself.... no reason to not still be friends. Your behavior will speak for itself, the people that truly know and care about you will know better, and the rest don't matter. True friendship is often tested.... do you want to pass or fail?
