Divx is the most common computer video encoding and a regular film takes about 700MB so that should be your minimum.
From my experience the brand doesn't change much in these, compare specs and price and you'll be OK.

You Would Need A Large Drive Around 2GB To Hold Maybe Three Movies. 1GB Drives Are $50 - 2GB Prolly $100 - They Go Up To 4GB That I Know Of But Those Are Like $200.....No Specific Brand Recommended.......You Can Store Anything On A USB Drive.......

You can buy an external hard drive for a few dollars more, and store a lot more movies. There are good ones out there for about the same price as a large zip drive. Go for at least 80 gb so you will not need to upgrade later.

usb drive have similar function with floppy disk. it can store almost any type of files or data, provided you have an empty space in it. the size depend on what type of data you want to store in it. if you want to store movies you have to get a big one, the bigger the better. i dont think 1gb is enough. the bigger the size the higher the price. there's so many brand in the market, try imation or kingston.
personally, i'm using external hard drive with 30gb & 20gb storage, changing to bigger one soon. function like usb (flash/thumb) drive but with bigger storage and have the same interface (usb). this can really help if you want to carry big size data or file with you.

You can ge an external 250 GB hard drive that connects to your USB port for under $100. That should be enough for your purpose.

A 2GB 'thumbdrive' (fits on your keychain) is about $40-50 onsale (CompUSA, Staples, Office Depot, etc) and will hold several (2-3) DVD's when converted to .mpv format if you just want an easy way to take several over to a friends house for the evening...
For long term storage you obviously want a large (120GB+) external disk drive

Sure you can store anything on them. But if your store a entire movie you would probably need at least a 4Gb or up. Even shrinked DVD movies are around 3.5-4.0GB or space.. Sandisk is a very good product and comes with 5yr warranty...Thanks

For movies you would better off getting a small 2.5" external USB enclosure. With one of these you can use a 40gb or larger laptop hard drive.

A USB drive is for small things like a word document. IPOD is for big things like music videos and movies.
i dont think they make USB drives that big. is so it would be VERY expensive.
does this help?
