You know, it's not so much that the material is much more difficult than it was in high school (though...it is). It's the shift in responsibility that a lot of students aren't ready for. In high school, you're in class about 6 hours a day, and most of the work you do in class. When you're in college, you spend a few hours a day in class taking notes. However, you read all the textbook chapters, do all the research, write all the papers, and study for all the exams on your own time.
If you're living in the dorm, your mom and dad aren't there asking, "Did you do your homework?" It's up to you to decide when you're going to study. If you're very, very lucky, you'll have some friends who will say, "Hey, let's get together the night before the exam and quiz each other." Even better if you can be that friend. But you'll also have friends who say, "Hey, let's go to the pub! You've got a paper to write? Blow it off, let's go!"
The best way to prepare for college this year?
Decide that this year you're going to quit learning and doing work in response to other people's expectations, or to avoid people hassling you. Take responsibility for your own learning and your own performance. Self-discipline is remembering what you want. What you want...well...that's up to you.

What could i have done... from a student architect view, I would have visited a firm or talk with a lot of architects and designers so i know how to think like an architect.
I don't know what major you are doing but forget everything you know in high school... you know what i mean... the teachers, the styles that you had to undergo because the teachers you will face will have their demands and you have to quickly adapt to them asap. They have much more knowledge than you and have been teaching for years. Do what they say while still adding your own style helps you succeed in college. Do your own thing and you will get shot down. If they like it then that's okay but most of the time, it's not professional conduct and as a college student, you have to think like a professional. students in universities and colleges are literally unemployed professionals.
as the years go by, you will find it easier because your gaining valuable techniques to get results. It's hard at first but take a breather now and then. time management is crucial here and have critical judgment skills! college is like HS but with mature people.

First off relax! Seniors are made to feel as though their whole life depends on what college you attend and how well you do on the ACTS / SATs. A lot of that doesn't matter in the long run. What matters is that you develop good study skills, make lots of good friends, and prepare yourself to encounter all sorts of things you will not have had the opportunity to try before. Every class will be difficult at first, since you'll be seeing things you have never seen before. It's all about your attitude, just think of the little engine that could and you'll be fine.

My senior year of high school I took a bunch of AP classes, and when I got to college, my classes were actually easier. You'll eventually cover more difficult material, but you have to start out with the more basic classes. They're paced faster than high school classes, but that's really the only thing I've noticed, other than the fact that you can't just coast along, like in high school. You have to work. Fortunately, stuff doesn't get really hard until you've gotten used to it.
College may seem intimidating, but there will be lots of people to help you with the transition, and soon you will enjoy the freedoms that go along with it. You'll be fine.

You need to relax more, because your senior year is suppossed to be fun! Trust me, college will come soon enough, but its not that much to worry about. As long as you have good study skills in high school and you have motivation...you will do fine in college! My senior year was actually a little different than most people's...I did a work experience program through my high school, where I went to school for 4 classes in the morning and left after that to go to work, and got credit for it. It was a good experience because I got to work in the field I want to go into (nursing). And no...it did not affect my ability to get accepted into college! So just have fun and relax, because high school only happens once and you should enjoy it while it lasts.

OMG i would have done alot more things different now that i am 24. I wish i had someone to help guide me during my senior year. I wish i could've looked at more options in colleges. I wish i had went to a community college first to see if college was right for me and then attend a 4- year college. I personally think that it is a great step in students who are planning to attend college. Please Please think about this avenue trust me you won't regret it. I think that my guidance counselor should have spent more time with me. So please communicate with your guidance couselor.
