Ok, so I am 16 and wasn't circumcised at birth. The problem is that my foreskin will not pull back at all. In fact, to pull it back to expose the mons glans causes me pain and cuts of circulation to the area, because it is so tight. I can masturbate, but intercourse most likely will not work. I realize that I should have dealt with this problem before, but I have never really had the need to. I mean I've only had one girlfriend before and we never really did much...but now I have serious girlfriend and I don't want to end up in some awkward situation or anything. Plus, I'd like to be able to have sex. What I'm getting at here is: do I have to get a full circumcision, or just enough to have a "regular" foreskin? How long does the recovery for a circumcision take? How can I keep the fact that I'm getting a circumcision under wraps? Thanks in advance!

have your parents take you to a urologist, and it will take some time to heal i would suggest a good 3-4 weeks before even think about intercourse!

You clearly have a condition called "phimosis" where the opening of your foreskin is too narrow/tight. There are a number of ways to remedy this with and without circumcision.

If you can get an erection without pain from your foreskin then you can try simply stretching exercises. With these exercises, take two fingers and stretch the opening of the foreskin as far as it'll go without pain (like increasing its radius) by hooking a finger on either side of the foreskin opening. It's hard to describe and may take a little practicing to get right, but do this for a few minutes each day for a few weeks to a month. This should loosen and increase the opening of the foreskin enough so you can pull it back comfortably. Be careful not to cause yourself pain, as that could cause scarring and make things worse. If the stretching exercises don't work there are prescription creams that, when combined with the exercises, are supposed to help.

If you're foreskin is causing you pain upon erection then you'll need to get that looked ASAP. There are many surgical options with the most radical being a complete circumcision. There is an incision in the foreskin that causes it to split open so it's no longer tight, but that might look a little weird. There's a surgery that can also increase the opening of your foreskin. There are partial circumcisions that only take off the tight part of the foreskin, leaving enough foreskin to cover part of or all of your glans, depending on the original length of your foreskin. And lastly, there's the complete circumcision, which you should only really consider when all other options fail.

Look at the links for more info and then make your consideration. Chances are you won't need nor want a full circumcision since there are so many other viable options that could work equally well or better.

Guys that have a foreskin can't began to answer this question, and guys that are Circumcised can't, and women could never know.

So you should ask someone that has had it both ways. I was Circumcised at age 22 and wish with all my heart that I would have had it done long before that. Sex is better, and no more problems. Believe me the foreskin is useless. Don't fall for the crap pro-intact people put out about the foreskin being so full of nerves, because I have never heard of one having an orgasm by playing with just their forskin. If I were you I would get a full Circumcision, It will heal up fast. and you should be having fun soon. No one knew I had it done, and I went to work only after a few days. See a Doctor and ask how many adults he has done. After 30 years I'm so happy I had it done and when you look back I know you will too. Good luck!

Sorry to hear you can't pull it back.. You have a choice of an alternate procedure called a DORSAL SLIT. They slit the foreskin right over the glans on the top, front to back, this loosens & releases the tight foreskin. You will still have foreskin, but now relaxes & movable. Or you can go for the real deal, which you will love.

Recovery takes about one month for skin to heal and sutures to absorb. Swelling & soreness, but not real pain. And you can't keep it underwraps, unless you live alone & don't venture out your door.

Get the real deal - you will thrill to the sensation of rubbing the exposed knob, you will wish you did it sooner. What are you waiting for??? cost is about $700 to $1000 if no insurance.
do it now & enjoy your youth. Life's too short to suffer.

P>S> - DO NOT BELIEVE THE DRIVEL POSTED BY SAMURAI. I gave factual & solid advice to you with no ulterior motives. Samurai is anti-circumcision. But I have been both uncut & later cut & i know first hand.

Sounds like you have adhesions. We use to do "surgery" on kids all the time that have them, the foreskin needs to be pulled back regularly to keep it from do this. Its real simple.. the Dr puts up under a light anesthetic, then pulls the forskin back exposing the glans, then they put vasoline on it to keep it from doing it again. You will have to pull it back several times a day and keep vasoline on it while it heels. Sometimes the Dr will have to insert a surgical instrument to loosen the skin around the glans. Again, very simple and given that you are older.. they may just give you a local or twilight sedation. Talk to a urologist, or your reg Dr.. you can even req to speak to your Dr alone, your parents dont have to be in the room with you.

(I'll talk about the sex part later, first the anatomy/physiology) It sounds to me like you're able to retract your foreskin (exposing the glans) which is good, except that it is painful when kept back. It most likely does not need to be circumcised, please save that only as a last resort, as it damages and removes a lot of sensitive tissue. I strongly urge you to wait until you're married to have sex, (talk to me more for reasons and advice) but either way, you need to be able to talk about this issue and the fact that it is painful when you stay retracted with your girlfriend/future wife. If this is not something you can comfortably talk to her about, you need to wait until you can tak about it before having sex with her. As far as I know it is possible to have sex without it retracting, but if during or after intercourse it is painful, there is most likely a way to stretch your foreskin or have a minor surgery to loosen but not remove it. Please talk to your girl and a doctor about both the condition and your options.

One more thing: Do not pay any attention to what blackbird above said.

You need to go to a Plastic Surgen for this operation. I don't know how fast you heal but you are young so I would guess 4-6 weeks to heal. I would do it ASAP if this is what you want. I think it would be a good idea. And I think it would help your confidence (not saying you don't have any). That my advice! Hope it helps.

for 1 thing you do NOT have to be circumcised to have sex - - if you did there are a lot of men that would not be having sex
And you really need to wait till you are older to have sex. do you want to have a baby right now? because that is 1 side affect of sex

it's better to have a full circumsion to the condition you have (phimosis) because it might reccur if it is not done properly .although the whole procedure might cause you some discomfort (i mean after the operation) but sooner or later it should be done;so good luck
