I think it's an amazing, amazing show. You really have to look at it from a historical perpective, to. Arthur Miller wrote it at a time when Sen. Joseph McCarthy was accusing everyone and their brother of being a communist, and Miller was among the accused. Of course, most of these claims were false. The ridiculousness and mass hysteria of the witch trials is a parallel to this. It's a beautifully written script.

With no real offense meant, your Q is confusing.

The "story" is one of high impact for one thing, and expresses in great depth, emotions pertinent even to society today.

Certainly as a "crew" member, we all experience a "performance" often to ad-nauseum, but might actually enjoy aspects of our efforts and BITS when the first curtain goes up. I personally always get emotional at final curtain,,,of every performance.

I guess part of my confusion comes from my experience in that,,,other than one of my passions,,, it's also Just a Job. The Shows often become just that,,, a Job.

I mean no disrespect, and have been a Properties Master, as well as being involved in every aspect of theater, but what pleases me most is what my craft allows me, and any thanks I might get, stated or otherwise from a Principal.

Sadly perhaps, or as a subtle "defense" mechanism, crew members on any level become somewhat apathetic in regard to how many shows they've prepped, or worked through, and a quote I hear often is,,,"Done is better than GOOD"

I'm rambling, and will stop now, but if you have a passion for your craft, and find performances you enjoy,,, let those you don't enjoy, become the DONE. I wish you well.

I liked it a lot. With the right cast, it is emotional as well as powerful.
I would suggest you tell your group of girls to really work on their team building, and NOT be overdramatic. The more believable, the better.

And set wise, a lot of gloomy things, a fog machine maybe, and the most IMPORTANT part is of course, the crucible.

Reading the play is a bit boring as it consists of numerous Puritans denouncing eachother of witchcraft. Otherwise the story is fine if you look at it for meaning. Mostly because of the character's motives and feelings. But it really seemed like a soap opera when I read it.
