When I got married for the first time I was way to young and all I could think about was fetting out of my parents house. I knew when I walked dpne the aisle that it was a mistake. I was a college grad marrying a good looking, good for nothing cokehead. We struggled through 10 years of marriage, since it's easier to do nothing than it is to do something, until finally I came home from working my second job to find him screwing his secretary. In my bed!!! Such a cliche, but so true. He got her pregnant, also. Needless to say he was out the door and locks changed within 4 hours. Bed Bath and Beyond the next day for complete new ensemble. I was relieved and overjoyed by my divorce. I have now been married to a man I love for 9 years.

When I got married, I was on top of the world. My husband was my world, I did everything I thought I was suppose to do as a wife, including helping him get sole custody of his child. The circumstances changed in my case, he started behaving as if he wasn't married and had no responsibilities. He started cheating on me, I even caught him with the woman, and still he never stopped. He became violent and verbally abusive. That's when my attitude changed toward him. So when the divorce was final, I had a great sigh of relief.

I don't believe in divorce....even though I have been through one. That was my attitude at the beginning and the end...I took my vows very seriously and even when my husband had an affair and decided that he wanted to end our marriage, I forgave him and tried everything I could to stop him from filing for divorce. My belief was that everyone makes mistakes, and I have never believed in the saying "once a cheater, always a cheater." Everyone changes, and everyone makes mistakes. Sometimes sh++ happens...but I was willing to forgive him and move on.

In retrospect I would have to say it wasn't very different. I was nuts because I was getting married, then I was nuts because I was going through a divorce.
Something to think about...
