If you don't have Itunes 7.0 on your computer download that and then run a diagnostic on your Ipod. It should be able to tell you what else to do. Then you should have your music files and videos in another file on your computer that is separate from Itunes under "My Music". Look there and you should see all of your stuff safe and sound so go ahead and restore it if that's what Itunes says.

The exact thing happened to me...I think. With mine there was a screen on the ipod that said I had to restore it and I tried multiple times to do so and nothing happened. I sent it back to apple and they are hopfully fixing it...? I hope you don't have the same problem as me because it has been like 5 weeks and I still don't have it back. =(

If you had the same problem I did, then iTunes is ejecting your iPod when its trying to Update it. When iTunes ejects your iPod unplug your iPod from the computer and the plug it in again, just a few seconds later. This should work, hope it helps.
