A lady just e-mailed me, & although I appreciate the concern, it kinda makes me mad.
She said I shouldn't have my baby's picture as my avatar because somebody might try to kidnap him. It's a small picture, you really can't see what he looks like & nobody knows his name, my name or where I live. I could be anywhere in the world!
What do you think about her e-mail and about having my baby, that it took me over 15 years to have that I am very proud of, as my avatar?? THANKS!

The avatar you see of mine right now is just here for Halloween! My avatar is a photo of my granddaughter and myself napping together! I would have probably e-mail her back telling her," I appreciate your concern but you can just kiss my a**!" You have a beautiful baby and there is nothing wrong with being proud and wanting to show the world and congratulations to you.

If that lady emailed you, then a pedophile who wants your child could email you too under false pretenses, get to be your close friend and find out all about you. You never know what some of the crazies might do, but now they know that the person (you) who can be reached at you email address has a baby. Something to consider. For all you know, that "woman" who emailed you might not be a woman at all and might actually be the pedophile I am talking about.
Do you think he is cuter than me, or am I the cutest?

I understand the concern .... a lot of people feel that way.
However, babies change so very quickly, and, there is not the same "distinctiveness" as there is when people get older ... and as long as you remain careful about never giving out personal info, location, etc .... I say, go for it .. and congrats!!
I honestly have had this same concern about putting up pics of my grandchildren on a website for my friends to see .... so I do think there is concern because of the world we live in... but i also hate living in fear!!!

I asked a question once and included that I moved from the ocean to where they grow wheat. I got an email from a man who pinpointed the exact city from where I came and within 100km's of where I moved to. It was freaky. The guy wasn't a stalker, but it showed me just how much a person can find when they are looking.
I wouldn't freak out about your child's pic being on here, but I would be wary.

I think the woman is probably just concerned but if it were me I wouldn't pay her any attention. I'd say it'd be very hard for someone to try and kidnap your baby just from seeing its picture.

I think she's overreacting. It's not like you have your home address posted or anything. Nothing is wrong with having your baby's picture as your avatar. I think your baby is very cute. Congrats on your little blessing!

No you can't see the picture that good to do all that. Don't worry about it. I think it's a cute picture. I like it. Just ignore people. Sometimes people trip out.

I doubt she sent it to make you upset. She probably did it out of concern ,however, you have nothing to worry about unless you put your personal info online. I know you are smarter than that. Take it with a gain of salt. Cute baby btw...:)

yeah, there's weirdo's out there.....i had a kindly old lady stalk me once when i had my baby boy with me while in my work clothes and looking pretty rough. She even tried to talk to passersby about what was i doing with a baby. Finally lost her to traffic lights.

she probably thought it was a thoughtful suggestion, but i don't see how it could possibly relate to this type of format, sounds like she wigged out a bit on the paranoia. and congrats on having the baby you've wanted for so long...you've been blessed!
