did you read this book by Virginia Andrews? it says somewhere it is based on real events... what parts do you think are true...i mean, is the house and the family real or made up?
i loved this book...just wondering if 'based on a true story' is a credible term

OMG I read those books about 25 years ago!! I honestly believe they were totally made up!

I know horrible things happen to children but those books are fiction. I think the based on true events thing is a fib! But we'll never know because Virginia Andrews is dead! VC Andrews was known as the New Virginia Andrews for a while because she took over writing some of the sagas Virginia Andrews didn't finish!
and then carried on writing with that name.

Petals on the Wind was followed by If there be Thorns and The Seeds of Yesterday!

I heard that it was loosely based on a true story, and that a mother did lock her children in the attic. But they also made a film out of the book. But whereas in the film the mother died, in the book she didn't, so who knows. Also I read the books that came after flowers in the attic and they were very strange!!

I read the book years ago. I could believe that it was all true. People are screwy. If you want to go further her sequel is Petals in the Wind. Both are disturbing yet worth the read. I cried throughout Flowers in the Attic.

I read this book. Maybe Children did live the way they were accommodated. The reality some time can be bragged to amuse the reader.
