While naming a child after yourself is nice it can also be very confusing take it from me Anitra named after mom Anita and grandma Juanita... Having a name of your own that sounds nothing like your parents or grandparents name can also be very nice and create far less confusion when people call the house or when someone calls out within the house...
If you are willing to live with the confusion that naming a child after you will cause go for it otherwise save Jennifer for a middle name and give any potential child a name all thier own.
As for the name Jennifer I really love it thus my daughter Gennypher...

I love the name Jennifer. I considered it for my youngest daughter except both my husband and I had first cousins with the name. I chose Tiffany instead. Actually I chose Melissa but my husband told me in the hospital that he really didn't like it so we settled on Tiffany Amber Lynn. Yes two middle names. My other daughters are Katherine Ashley Marie, and Sierra Elizabeth Rose. It allowed us to use more of the names we liked.

That's my name too and in school I hated it because there was always at least one other Jennifer in the class. But it's not as popular as it was then.
I like Jenna.

I think it is kinda common... you know. I always want to name my kids something different. Not something they would be made fun of for. But something that they will be the only person in class with that name no matter how many people are there.

It's not really common in young children anymore because it was so over used in our generation. I am Jenniffer too....but with two F's...talk about a pain in the rear. NEVER name your child a common name with a stupid spelling.
