Derek Jeter the captain of the Yankees. I mean look at his stats
.343 Average, 14 Home Runs, 97 RBI's, 214 Hits, 118 Runs Scored, and even 34 SB. And a pretty good defensive year not to mention he lead the Yankees in most of their close games. I think he not only will win the AL MVP but also a Gold Glove at Shortstop and also he won the Hank Aaron Award.

this is a tough question.
i am a NYY hater, but the clutch play of derek jeter helped propel them to being the top AL team. One could argue that the Tigers or Twins have solid MVP canidates (which they do) but when you look at the three teams and have to pick ONE player from each team... none is easier than picking DJ. and this is coming from a die hard Twins fan. Rounding out the top 5 -

2. Justin Morneau - The Twins first baseman was a beast in the second half. Had a big hand in turning around the Twins offense and taking them to the top of the AL Central. Batted .320/34 HR's/100+ RBI.... oh yeah, he betted behind clean-up with those numbers, outrageous!

3. Magglio Ordonez - Its tough to pick just one guy to be the top Tiger, but Mags has to be it. Whoever he plays for, you know what you are gonna get. Solid batting avg, strong defense, and a club house leader.

4. A very tough spot. Bobby Abreu/Pudge Rodriguez/Frank Thomas - All three deserve a spot in the top 5. They powered their teams into the post season and gotta recieve some balloting points for doing so.

5. Johan Santana - When its time to get down to business, no one compares to the Twins Ace. Unbeaten for two straight second halves... thats what i call gettin' it done!

ok, high quality, yet wanton lack of understanding of how the awards are administered quite undermines the favourite of your perspectives. The MVPs, Cy Youngs, newbies, and manager awards are run by technique of the Baseball Writers of us of a association. Commissioner Selig might want to have an opinion on such concerns, yet he holds no authority over them. Selig does carry sway over the Hank Aaron Award, it really is bestowed upon a non-pitcher each and every season in each and each and every league, yet apparently the existence of this honor remains off the radar, even with that it completely -- completely -- serves the want the "pitchers might want to not win MVP" faction call for be chuffed. Pitchers are eligible. it really is all of it. No pitcher has received considering that 1992, and no starting up pitcher has received considering that 1986 -- and through the span considering that, we've witnessed monumentally large, even traditionally remarkable, seasons from some pitchers, in certain Maddux and Martinez. And neither received. no one has. pay interest, please: the "pitchers might want to not win ever" proponents have become THEIR way in this count number. by technique of the baseball gods, notwithstanding is the grievance of those human beings? it really is like the Yankees triumphing yet another championship yet the followers very last unhappy because they did not go 162-0 on the season with an 11-0 October romp to follow. stop being such sore winners already. i want to confirm Verlander win AL MVP, yet experience particular he received't. Your 2011 Hank Aaron Award winners: AL -- Jose Bautista, Toronto Blue Jays. NL -- Matt Kemp, la Dodgers.

Has to be Derek Jeter. I am biased, but he hit .344, was at or near the top with runners in scoring position, knocked in 97 runs, stole a career-high 34 bases (was caught only 5 times), and played his usual Gold Glove caliber defense. The voting is done before the playoffs, but Jeter was one of only two Yankees who hit against Detroit (the other was Posada). Jeter is still getting better at age 32.

Joe Mauer, The Batting Champion, and unlike Jeter he wasnt surrounded by a team of underachieving, over paid superstars

Johan Santana should win it, but unfortunately he's on the same team as two other candidates, so it's all but certain that Jeter will get it, even though he's not the MVP of his own team (that would be Rivera).

Jeter,,He was a real leader this yr,,Our team suffered injuries, and it was Jeter that pulled the team through,,He is so underrated as a player,Maybe it's because he has a good yr every yr and it's expected from him, that he's always over looked.
He has such a humble attitude.I really think this is gonna be his yr
for MVP!!
