statictically speaking, there are more male babies born each year than female babies but due to mortality rates and the fact that men don't live as long as women, there are more women in the world by default.

The number of women is equal to 56% of the population. The reason there are more women than men is that more men die in combat than women! When women are drafted as well as men that number may even out!

I would have to guess that there are more men then women simply because girl babies are killed in many countries.
