it is a category regarding how to do certain things for yourself without having to call in an expert, such as how to fix a leaky toilet, how to build a deck, how to hang wallpaper. Certain small things around the house that you can do yourself so you don't have to spend large amounts of money hiring a professional.

DIY (Do It Yourself) is a style in which you pick and choose what -you- like for clothes, hair and makeup, rather than following an established fashion trend. It started with some of the women in punk and new wave music, and in particular with the "Riot Grrrls" movement. It basically just means, be yourself, whoever that might be.

Do - it - yourself(DIY) means projects/things/work you can do yourself without the need of a professional or teacher to assist you.Examples like fixing a broken board,repairing a cycle etc.It also includes kits which you can make with the help of instructions given in it rather than an individual to teach you (because it doesnt need some one to teach you).

well the simplest example is; hammer a nail into your wall to hang up a picture. change a plug on an appliance. you need some tools, like screwdrivers, hammers plyers, etc.
In Europe or the States lots of people do things forthemselver because it costs a hell of a lot of money to get an electrician or a plumber in. So people tend to do DIY.
