Actually, online banking is very safe and secure. The security of online banking is not based on the Security programs on your computer or the browser you are using. The security is established by the encryption programs the bank uses.

All the data about your bank account is encrypted with 256K encryption (my bank has 3 layers of 256K encryption) and a hacker cannot read it. None of the encryption levels from 128K and up have never been broken. The Federal Government, when sueing the inventors of this encryption for the keys, admitted that it would take the NSA an average of 20 yrs to crack 256K encryption. The computers would be devoted 24/7 to this task. I don't think some "hack" with a desktop will accomplish cracking 256K anytime soon. I use online banking and have no fears of others getting access to it.

As long as you do not store your account information in programs like AutoFill, or others, you should never have a problem. You should never store Credit Card and bank account numbers on your computer.

Please discuss this with your bank.

It is safer than IE 6 and 7. There is an new Firefox 2.0 that is out if you want to go with Firefox. However I would never do online banking because your data is not always safe at the bank itself. Bank of America released info on 125000 customers for example.
