Probably because half of the teachers in our schools today care nothing about teaching, but only receiving a paycheck; or at least that is the way that it appears to be. People today love to tell others what to do, but are not willing to put forth any effort to do anything themselves. Our school system has really gotten rotten, in some ways. We have allowed the Word of God and prayer to be taken out of our schools, which is a great shame. It is time that we be thankful that we even have the privilege of having a public school system. And it has come to the time when we had better repent of sin, and turn back to God; instead of trying to keep Him out of our life, and our nation. All that I can suggest is that you make certain that you have asked Jesus to become the Savior of your soul, and begin to pray for our entire government. For the majority of our governmental officials care nothing about their relationship with God, or allowing Him to have any part in their life. This especially includes our public school system.

Well, as a retired 9th grade English teacher, let me explain a few things to you.
I have found that the majority of my students believe that I should tell them the answers to everything we do. This includes my college prep students! The majority of 9th graders coming to my classroom that have had A's and B's in English end up getting C's and D's. The reason is that they have been "spoon fed" for the first 8 years. The have been allowed to redo homework, quizzes, and tests to improve their grades.
Once you reach high school, the real world kicks in. The state says how many credits you must have, how many units of each class you must take, and what tests you have to take and pass in order to graduate.
These mandates leave little if any time to "have fun."
Now, if you are having trouble learning the information being presented, you need to find out your learning style and start using the information to learn. If you are told to learn something on your own, then do it. You can make flash cards, highlight notes, and/or color code information. Do what works for you!
If you feel that you haven't learned anything in some of your classes, ask yourself why. Is it because you truly struggle with that subject, or do you find the teacher boring? If you need help to understand a concept or an assignment, ASK the teacher! That's what they are there for. I don't know of a single teacher who will refuse helping a student. After the explanation, if you still don't understand, say so! We are not mind readers.

Well that sucks. I honestly think it's because high school teachers are easily made to feel like they're wasting their time trying to motivate. There's entirely too much politics involved in high school education, and a lack of motivation from the students can make a teacher feel like there's no point in trying.
You may just have to take matters into your hands. It sounds cheesy, but you're the one asking. :) I took an interior design class my senior year because I didn't want to have to do real work. Apparently that's why everyone else in the class signed up for it too. It started off as being incredibly boring because no one cared anything about it. I felt bad for the teacher, so I started giving the answers anytime she asked a question in class. It was basically me and the teacher and that was it. Then one day this popular guy who was known as being a huge slacker decided he'd join in. He started paying attention so he could give the answers before me- it quickly turned into a competition, and by the end of the year, we were all into interior design, and we were all friends.
Put some of your own enthusiasm into your classes, and hopefully it will rub off on other people, including the teacher. If you're a normal person who has friends, it won't seem nerdy. :) Good luck!

High school and Elementary school are two totally different things. Everyone wants to learn as kids, but when things start becoming harder like in high school, people want to stop. High school is tough (college is 10 times tougher) and that's probably why you're stressed. You're probably learning more than you realize. Education isn't about learning facts, it's a process that develops over a period of so many years that makes you more intelligent.

As we get older teachers expect us to have more self motivation. Wait for University where while the teachers sometimes can be very helpful, they really won't do anything to motivate you. It's your job to motivate yourself, either you want to learn or not. That choice they leave for you.
