My Mom said Regis and Kelly talked about the little boxes when Sara Jessica Parker came to the show - so I guess they are still used in East coast. Best knowledge I have. Oh, check the web of course, didn't think earlier my answer would be better.
I'd give children candy, as that's what's on their mind - the most loot.
If some one did ask - give what you can, $1 at least. ?
If your well off - you'll give more, I hope.
(Just don't take the box!, sorry very bad joke.)
Have a great Halloween.

Yes, kids still "Trick or Treat for UNICEF" they are given preprinted cardboard "banks" and literature about questions you might ask and how they should answer. If you have a handful of change, that is usually sufficient (if you want to contribute more it is always welcome). But the kids don't care how much you give -- they just turn their bank over to their school (or sometimes church) Have candy ready to offer to them, if they were just collecting for UNICEF they will either say no thanks to the candy or perhaps they'd take the occasional piece.

Yes, they do. I usually have to know the child before I give them money - too many scams out there - and, if I do, I give them a five for Unicef and candy for them being so sweet as to collect for a charity.

i myself don't be attentive to why we have fun the trip. All that's is a trip the place youngsters can gown up and get candy to function some greater cavities. i don't think of that's well worth getting to know, by way of actuality that all of it began as a pagan trip. i for my section do not care a lot for staying at living house with each and every of the trick-or-treaters ringing my bell, i'm happy that my church all started a safer version of halloween - eliminating the emphasis from the evil factors and putting it on the solid issues. in case you're having the style of concern with halloween, forget approximately approximately it. i'm not a witch so why can not October 31 be a exciting trip? My church has a Hallelujah occasion to offer youngsters a hassle-unfastened halloween. between the regulations is that the infants do not gown up in evil costumes(witches, draculas, etc).they might gown up as angels, cowboys, princesses, animals, etc. as a techniques by way of fact the angels - which could not be incorrect, its unlike anybody is worshiping them.

Only candy where I live. Each year the number of kids has decreased since the church groups and the shopping malls offer more "safe" activities for the kids.

Yeah, I heard a commercial about that last week. Donate what you want. Personally, I think Halloween is about the fun of kids 'n candy. I don't donate to charities that beg for it.
