Bypass the problem by becoming entrepreneurs. If every minority started up their own business, where they are their own boss, they wouldn't be any discrimination, you wouldn't need affirmative action, there wouldn't be any "old boys" network keeping them down and they'd have the opportunity to make a LOT of money.

First thing is we should not have to put are sex, race, or age on any form ever, We should choose people based on there EDUCATION, And EXPERIENCE, not race or age, or even religious preference. I do believe that affirmative action should not be applicable to any one who was born after the year 2000. I have never held any one down and never been a raciest in my life I don't care what color you are what gender, even what your sexual preference is, As far as I'm concerned, you are human which means I'm no better then you and you are no better then me. Affirmative action on the other hand Say's that this person should get special treatment because there of a certain race. So basically what it Say's to me is that they are less of a person or handicapped in some why, When what it really boils down to is that it makes you lazy, dumb (because you might drop out of school because you know affirmative action will protect you), and self righteous Non of which make for a better way of life for any body It's all cause and effect. Simply Abolish Affirmative action and truly make it an even playing field, Remember in this country we are all equals, and as long as affirmative action is around that's not the case.

The old boy network? I have been to a government office and there may be a network, but it certainly isn't made up of old boys. The minorities make up almost 40% of the population. My question to you is, do you not think minorities are good enough or smart enough to make the grade in society? Why should we dumb down our population to make minorities look better? It is programs like these that are discriminatory in my opinion.

Any proof that racism or sexism still exists in hiring practices today? It's pretty much a given that if this could be proven in a certain case, that the person would sue the company. I haven't heard of any such lawsuits in years.
This may be an urban legend, like "men make more than women for the same job".

Affirmative Action is used wrong. Yes, it should prevent discrimination. But it only creates reverse discrimination. As a gardener for the City of Los Angeles, and with a degree in horticulture, I have taking promotional; tests for Senior Gardener many times, scoring 100% several times, yet, a hispanic with a score of 90% gets the position because she/he speaks Spanish. In L.A. it is discrimination if you do not hire someone who cannot speak English. Yet, if you do not speak Spanish, you don't get hired. That is how Affirmative Action works and IT IS WRONG !!!!!

I guess that the 1964 Civil Rights Act was not worth the toilet paper it was printed on. What an utterly worthless, futile piece of legislation. It ought to be repealed because it has done nothing at all.

Affirmative Action is racist/sexist and won't put an end to bigotry. In fact, nothing will completely put an end to racism and sexism.

There doesn't need to be a "solution."
Businesses are solely qualified to decide who they hire.
As a woman, I don't want someone to hire me just to fill some quota.
