I bought three pumpkins for halloween and do not know if they are field pumpkins for animals or pumpkins I could use to make pumpkins pies? Can anyone tell me the difference or what to look for?

Well, after a story that I heard, I will never eat pumpkin pie again. Back in the early 1960s, a traveling salesman had breakfast and then drove off to see some customers a few towns away. While he was driving, the breakfast did not agree with him and he had to find a bathroom. Being in the middle of nothing but farms, he pulled over to the side of the road and walked into the middle of a pumpkin patch. When he felt no one could see him, he took out his pen knife and cut a hole in a pumpkin. He then sat over the pumpkin and relieved himself. He went back to his car and drove off. A couple of weeks later, he felt guilty over what he had done and went back to the farm. He approached the farmer and told him he wanted to pay for the pumpkin he ruined. He asked the farmer how much he owed him and the farmer said $2.00. He gave the farmer $2.00. Then the farmer picked up the phone and called a friend of his and said "Sy, that was **** in the pie, good bye."

A pumpkin is a pumpkin. They are all the same. I have seen people carve one for decoration and use it later for pie (I passed on that!)

There is no difference except that smaller pumpkins tend to be sweeter and better for pies. Larger ones of course are best for Halloween. But you can use them either way.

DONT LISTEN TO ANYONE ELSE

THERE IS A DIFFERENCE

go back to the store or look at your receipt to check if it was a PIE PUMPKIN
if it is, then go ahead and eat it
if you're still not sure, ask the storeperson if those pumpkins are for cooking
