High prices are because of the gluttony of the people in the US as well as Europe. At least most Europeans curbed their consumption but those in the US keep on wasting our resources. Personally I think we should ration gasoline and excessive usage could be taxed so severely that people would think twice about taking unnecessary trips. The extra dollars raised in the taxes should go directly into development of alternate fuels so we can get off the oil problem.

It must have some effect but the biggest inffluence has got to be the oil companies. The prices seem to go up at the first sign of a problem in the wofld but it takes a lot longer to come down again.
