They do because we pay them. Celebrities are supply and demand, only the product is a person. Tom Cruise makes millions for each movie, becuase he is such a household hame and popular actor, producers know that just having him will mean big bucks at the box office.
Musicians make most of their money in conerts and doing promotions and all. When you go to a concert that has $40 ticket prices with 20,000 other people, where do you think that money goes.

Cause they can? That may sound simple but once they become a so called celebrity they become much more than themselves, they are a commodity with a lot of people on their payroll that depend on them...why they make so much beyond that, I dunno...I guess they better enjoy it while it lasts cause you can be hot today and a has been tomorrow!
