These people really screwed up.
The warlike Blackfoot tribe was kind of on the hunt for the Lewis and Clark Expedition. The Nez Perce gave the expedition safe harbor and prepared them to go on. A few short years later the US government had forgotten all about that kindness and put the Nez Pierce through as much or more grief than they did the Blackfoot.
They really should have cut Lewis and Clarks throats in their sleep. Could have bought a few years before the genocide.
A sorry history. And today a few miles away in Boise Idaho, who is commemorated in the big human rights's memorial downtown? Ann Flipping Frank. As if we have to go all the way across the ocean to find someone who suffered man's inhumanity to man to commemorate.

Absolutely! Their name comes from French explorers and is a misnomer. It means "pierced nose." Maybe someone had it, but it is not really typical. They are found in Idaho and that general area.
