He sold arms and military repair parts to Iran. He ignored the fact that many of the people helping to fight communism were drug smugglers. He let his daughter talk him into getting rid of James Watt. He had no clue when his wife had Donald Regan fired. His daughter posed nude in play boy. His son sold diet patches on TV infomercials, and imlied that Reagan endorsed the product. He and Nancy used psychics and astrologers to plan their future. He was in power for eight years, and did nothing about Cuba.

I think whip should read my profile again. I am not anti gun. Hey, how will I defend myself against the right wing reactionaries that want to go postal on me.

When he fired the air traffic controllers he set a president all over the country and company's was firing their union employees and hiring scabs. He put the nation into one of the worst recessions I have ever seen with his supply side economic, with its trickle down theory which never happened. He took credit for the demise of the old Soviet Union when in fact it was that they had spread themselves to thin. Ect. Ect. and Ect. I was as happy to see him done as I will be George W. Bush.

He did make some blunders, but he also effectively ended the Cold War. I was a strong supporter of Reagan until he failed to condemn the Israelis for their attack on palestinians in Jeruseleum. Other than that and a few other issues, he was still a great statesman and a powerful leader.
Unfortunately we don't have leaders like that in sight for our upcoming presidential election except for John Edwards, but all we hear about is Hillary, who did corrupt things with White Water, and is alleged to have something to do with the murder of her former law partner and Bill's presidential counsel.
Also, the republican party of Reagan's era is not the same one that is in power today. I proudly supported the republican party under Reagan, but now vote anyone but republican today, and support primarily democrats.
John Edwards, by the way, was the only presidential candidate of both parties that even acknowledged there was poverty in America, and he has continued to rally support of ending poverty across our country. Our one true hope of a 21st century statesman.

Are you really asking a question or just ranting?

Ron was (IMHO) a very good president (God Bless). He had fun with the job as well. Hey, anyone who likes jellybeans can't be all bad!

First and foremost, we must remember that He was an actor first. I am not a diehard Republican as I will always vote for the best person suited for the job, dispite their party! I believe we should ALL vote this way!

Every president has their own problems, even George Washington, Abe Lincoln, Roosevelt! No one on this planet (at this time) is perfect! We all make mistakes. Leaders as well!

The problem was not Ron, it was (in reality) an organization known as The Trilateral Commission, a group of bankers, world leaders and rich folk who wish to control the world via $$$ Google it and learn! They are the true leaders in this world.

IMHO,

Probably for the same reason you Libs have an orgasm when you hear "Clinton"........(I'll wait until your breathing slows). However the difference here is that Clinton (waiting again) was a perjuring liar, who improperly obtained and rifled through over 900 Republicans FBI files, and had several of his enemies audited by the IRS (also illegal--BTW, he DID these things, which was precisely what Nixon only INQUIRED about--and Nixon was impeached for his INQUIRY). Those are just some of Clinton's (again, waiting) crimes. Reagan, was a patriot. A true American who thought it an HONOR to serve his country. He was in it for the LOVE OF AMERICA. Clinton (can you handle this? - I'll wait) the narcissist, is in politics for Cli.......himself. (Didn't think you could handle it again.)

For the record--I do believe the former president is still using the information in those FBI files to blackmail the other side.

Because he was the greatest president in my life time. he had the balls to stand up to our enemies (USSR). sure there was a recession during his first term, but the root cause of that was the failed policies of his predecessor the peanut farmer. In contrast, the booming economy of the 90's that bubba Clinton had, was the direct result of MR. REAGAN'S economic decisions. Of course he didn't come up with them himself. He had the humility to know that he didn't know everything, but surrounded himself with people who did know more .He was a pragmatist who always tried to do the right thing, as he saw it. He may have traded arms for hostages, but only because he cared about those people and their families. I would like to think that my president would do what it took to save my life. He cared about individuals. He was not perfect, but he sure was human. a man i would be proud to call friend

i think its because he got rid of anti monopoly laws. Right now the rich are having their golden era and the poor is too divided to do anything about it. I get all glassy eyed when I think about him too, but for different reasons.

If that's all the bad things you can come up with it's no wonder that they named an aircraft carrier for him. Want to compare some of that with what we got from Jimmy Carter and Slick Willie? You'd lose!

Glassy eyed is probably the response you get from most people.

Get into the present, bud.

this has nothing to do with party affiliation. he was just someone who should never have been there in the first place. he was a professional actor. nothing more. they loved his movies.
