I am trying to research into which animal is the most stupid in the world overall and not just based on brain size, social interaction etc.

It must be the domestic turkey. Some have been known to drown in a heavy rain shower because they didn't realize that it would be dry and safe inside their hutches! Others are so brainless that they can't even remember how to eat, and must be fed by the farmer.♥

When it rains, turkeys will look skyward and open their mouths. Many of them will drown by doing this.
Actually, there's a difference between ignorance and stupidity. Ignorance is when you don't know any better, when you lack knowledge. Stupidity is when you know better, when you have the knowledge, but you ignore the knowledge you have. It's difficult to judge in an animal sometimes if an action of theirs is due to ignorance or stupidity.
I'd like to be a cynic and say that an animal that lives among humans and constantly places their trust in them in general seems to be somewhat stupid. You'd think they would have learned by now.

all animals are smart about something.
Lemings seem pretty stupid because they commit mass suicide ,
People can be smart but they can also be very stupid making the same mistakes over and over again
we lack the ten monkey syndrome which is that we dont appear to learn from past experiences and the lesson is transmitted to others of our clan
turkeys are very dump they will wait before a closed gate that stands on its own in a field with out fences on either side.
spaniels are very dump dogs ,seen one walk straight of a cliff.
some diosaurs had a brain the size of a pea.that must mean very dumb.
dodos big extinct australian birds were suposed to be very dumb ,so that their name became to mean stupid
alll in all ,i would have to say some people are the dumbest of animals

Sheep. They literally cannot take care of themselves; they have to have a human to shepherd them. And even when they do have someone caring for them, they will keep trying to do stupid stuff, like drink polluted water even when there's fresh nearby, or follow each other right over a cliff, or eat stuff that isn't good for them...they have no sense at all.

Possums are pretty stupid. We have actually witnessed them chew off the ears and tails of their littermates, and those victims just sit still for it. They will also often be hit by cars while dining on roadkill.(rather than take it off the road)
