My niece asked all the family to bring to the reunion any pictures of her husband with other family members. She came with a scanner, and copied all the pictures onto her computer, and everybody took back their pictures the same day.

She went through her in-law's picture collections, and copied every picture in which her husband appeared.

Then she went away on a scrapbooking weekend getaway, and made a scrapbook documenting her husband's entire life.

When he showed the scrapbook at the next reunion, he told me that the scrapbook was the most precious gift he had ever received, because of the memories it brought back.

She made the scrapbook for their children and grandchildren, so they could know her husband's life and times.

My sister decided after her husband died to organize for her sons, all the pictures and documents her husband had had of his family. She thought this would take a couple of scrapbooks; four years and twelve books later, she has a remarkable family legacy for her sons and grandchildren.

And I think, what would I not give to have a scrapbook of the life and times of each of my ancestors, to know the decisions they made, the obstacles they overcame, what kind of people I come from.

Scrapbooking can be expensive, cutesy cutsey cut and paste, or it can be truly valuable personal history.

So I think scrapbooking is a perfectly acceptable pasttime.

Scrapbooking is a wonderful pastime. No matter what age you are. I see girls in the craft shop in their teens doing it. It is a wonderful way to keep your memories safe and handy. I say the sooner a person starts scrapbooking the better!
As far as it being for people without talent, i know women who are wonderful artists in painting and pastels etc who scrapbook. It is all about self expression and preserving your memories in an attractive fashion. Photography itself is an art form too so go for it!
Dont worry about what others think of your hobbies. It is about what you enjoy not them.

Absolutely excellent and a computer with photo editing software, such as Photoshop Elements with all its photo frames and effects, allows full rein to your imagination when compiling your Digital Scrapbooking Memories to pass down the generations. Just remember to back up those scrapbooked memories frequently on new storage devices that use the latest technologies so that your memories don't become obsolete.

Oh God, don't get me started on scrapbooking. If you spend time playing with your pictures in little artsy crafty ways, you seriously need to find something else to do. Like Yahoo answers for example. Far cooler. Haha. Or even you know, girlscouts or something. Pretty much anything is better than scrapbooking. All the people who I know who have done it are very disturbed, lonely people trying to have a nice good hobby and covering up loads of anger. I don't know why this is, but it has been true. Other than that, it's totally acceptable.

It's a perfectly good and acceptable thing to do for someone of any age. Although I don't do it, I can see how it would be fun to help preserve your memories and bright spots in your life.
Remember, someone out there probably thinks "normal" hobbies are pathetic. Follow your dreams. Do what pleases you as long as you don't harm others.

It is a great thing to do. Don't listen to the people who say otherwise. I am 24 and have started a scrapbook for each of my children. And i am going to do a wedding one for my sister. People really appreciate how nice scrapbooks are compared to boring photo albums. I say go ahead and do it, its fun, its not depressing like someone had stated. Maybe its depressing for those certain people because they are ashamed of themselves and their past, scrapbooking doesn't make a person depressed.
