Three of our goldfish have now come down with the same illness. It looks like a white patchy area on the head between the eyes and the mouth. It's the exact same on all 3 fish and isn't anywhere else on their bodies. I am pretty sure it isn't ich. We treated twice for a fungal infection which helped a bit but didn't clear it up. Has anyone heard of something the fish might get all in the same area (head)?

It doesn't really look like it has the cottony growth of fungus. I would lean towards columnaris or else just a bacterial infection. Here's a link, scroll down to external bacterial infections. Has a list of antibiotics you can use for treatment.

if it looks like cotton on them it is a fungal problem. Change 85% of the water get rid of the carbon in your filter and the sponge ect. put new water with the clear water purifier and aquarium salt. Then treat the tank and repeat this process in 2 days. Then replace the carbon ect, But while treating the tank do not put anything in the filter just let it run with nothing in it because if you keep the filter accessories in it holds the disease and it will never go away. Good luck it is hard to get rid of but can be done i know from lots of experience.

My Fish got the exact same disease, most of the fish in my aquarium had it atleast twice. We bought some medicine for them and bought plants to make the environment better. Then, after a while the disease went away.

It could be parasites. Get some tablets that you drop in tank, if they don't start to get better go back to fungal treatment. Also take out charcoal filter when you put the medicine in otherwise it will just remove the medication. It is not ick. Ick looks like salt kernals stuck to the fish.

It looks fungal to me as well. Though it could be bacterial. Try Pimafix. If it starts eating in to their heads, then try Melafix. Both are great medications.

you've asked this before, i remember the pictures, this could be velvet - a fungus infection - since the antibiotics didn't clear it up try salt - buy aquarium salt - whatever dosage the package recommends, double it for treatment, then change 1/2 your water in a week, if necessary, repeat

most likely fungal... when they get infected in a place it's likely to reocccur in that place..

you need frequent water change and fungal meds...
a teaspoon of aquarium salt/gallon couldn't hurt either.

Do not ask this question on Yahoo. I suggest you go to a veterinarian for some serious advice. The lives of those goldfish could be in danger. Sorry about this, for I don not have an answer. Go to a veterinarian immediately.
