Actually, Pennywise the Clown, AKA, "IT" was played by none other than the accomplished Tim Curry. The makeup in the movie however, really masks his appearance. He did an amazing job playing one of the best villians in one of the scariest movies ever. Stephen King does make cameo appearances in the majority of his movies.
