Actually, they WERE together for a few years - they were even engaged for a while! Nobody really knows why they decided to end their romantic relationship, but they were broken up for quite a while before he left the band. They had decided to stay close friends and continue their successful career in the band after their breakup, but after a while that didn't work out either.

Ben Moody on the situation, in the early 2000s: "amy and i were once engaged. but alas, our storybook fairy tale romance, like all great things, came to an end. It's hard spending every waking moment with someone since before you could drive a car, chasing a dream together, AND trying to maintain a romantic relationship. We still love each other very much, though. It's wierd. You NEVER hear of these situations working out in the end, but we actually function just fine as best friends."

As far as ending their songwriting relationship, they have said that the reason they broke up as a team was "creative differences," but it may also have had something to do with his substance abuse related to bipolar disorder. He readily admits that he had a cocaine problem and an alcohol problem while they were on tour.

He has made a few attempts to be friendly with her again and has publicly admitted to leaving her a couple of voicemails, but she has not returned his calls and has made it clear through the press that she never wants anything to do with him again.

She has also made several (seemingly unfounded) indirect claims suggesting that he was abusive. I tend to believe that if he really had abused her, she should probably press charges or stop defaming his character. There is no reason to suspect that he was anything but good to her. She also claims that he "hates her" and "calls her a b---h" to the press, but the fact remains that he has never made a single truly hateful or negative remark about her, at least publicly. She, on the other hand, has been quite rude and negative about him in the media, just as she has been negative about Shaun Morgan, her other ex-boyfriend.

There seems to be a rumor going around that Ben left the band because Amy was dating Shaun, but it's probably helpful here to point out that Amy and Ben broke up long before Shaun was ever thought of.

I think Broken from Amy Lee ft. Seether is better, good intro and good voice from Amy Lee.
