We had Trick-or-Treating in my town today (6-8).

Earlier, in the community center, down the street from where I live, there was a community Trick-or-Treat with games, prizes, etc.

Some parents feel it's safer to go "begging" in a safe environment. Some kids go to the mall where it's warm and safe.

The kids that were in my neighborhood were all bundled up. It was very cold. The wind chill was probably under 20 degrees. Earlier in the day it was raining, snowing and thundering. So, if I can see why some people would opt for the mall.

For me, going the neighborhoods was fun. The kids were great and the costumes were wonderful (the ones I could see)

You don't have to go to the mall. No one is forcing you. Some neighborhoods just don't participate in trick or treating and other areas don't have anything organized for kids to do. So for a number of folks, the mall is the best option. Also, parents feel it's safer than going door to door at home.
