Why are women allowed to be sexist?

Don't know if this is worth 5 points but...

I am clearly just an embittered and twisted male, but it seems to me that these days women clearly feel that they have the absolute right to be sexist - so many answers on this site, for example, are anti-male sexist. On the other hand, if men dare to be sexist then their lives are over - they are drummed out of their jobs, sued to the hilt, ostracised, etc.

OK, so I am exaggerating, but you know what I mean. These days, for example, MEN are represented as stupid, venal, banal, sex objects in adverts, WOMEN as sophisticated, successful, etc.

At any rate, this should provoke some response...

You've spotted something and I am inclined to agree with you (and I'm a woman).

It's a curious double standard. I believe it is part of the backlash towards what was perceived as patriarchal sexism towards women for thousands of years.

Whatever, it is wrong.

Men and women are, in my opinion, equal, but have different strengths in different areas. We should be working towards honouring and respecting those differences, not mocking each other.

Iggy: A few points. 1.) Yes there are "dead beat moms" out there. Non-custodial mothers pay child support at a lower rate then non-custodial fathers. You just don't hear about it as much because women get sole custody 87% of the time in divorce cases, and an even greater amount of the time when the couple isn't married. Not to mention judges are reluctant to crack down on "dead beat moms". Gender plays a greater role in sentencing disparities then any other factor including race. I don't know what's more sexist. The fact that you think it's ok to distort the facts to bash men. Or the fact that you think it's so acceptable that married men only get sole custody of their children 13% of the time in the best of circumstances. 2.) As far as DV goes women commit non-reciprocal Domestic violence the majority of the time, and women engage in reciprocal domestic violence at the same rate men do. 3.) Since when do feminists care what consenting adults do with their bodies behind closed doors? What happened to "my body, my choice". Or are you chauvinistic enough to believe that only women should be able to do what they want with their bodies? Edit: True Brit: I respect a woman's career choice to be a porn star, so do all of my male friends that I've talked to, if a women is good looking it only makes sense to get paid to do what she would be doing for free after going to the bar or a club anyway. While you may consider it 'distasteful' to jerk off to a porno mag, it's certainly no more distasteful then a women letting a doctor stick sharp implements up her clam ditch in order to turn her unborn child into a uterus smoothy. Which is a practice that feminists vigorously defend. By the way I don't care whether you "respect my decision to leer". What I do with my body is none of your business, unless it physically effects your person or your property. In other words the freedom to swing my fist ends where your nose begins.

I am not really quite sure about the question at all but what I understood is this who else can allowed women it has to be male right. It has to go back to the history of human. Majority a lot of culture and country Men allowed to be sexist because Men are stronger physically and women depend on men in a lot thing that men can do but women can't. This is still the fact in some culture. but in our culture I believe that it reverses the past that limited a lot of women rights and things that women can't do. It's really because men allow it. Men are taught (from infancy) that women can do nearly anything they want. I put a question about slapping up, not all, but many women thought they can slap a man, with no reprisal....one answer: "because we can".

Men know we often just give lip service to the poor silly ladies, and I suppose they know that also. The pendulum will swing back, and stay hopefully nearer the center between dumb blond and male bashing. America would be a better place if it did.

Well for the record I am female and I agree- Men do get a rough time of it!! But different things for different sex's example (told well by christina) men sleep around they are cheered on by mates- women? Sl^ts! No one ever wins.

Its entirely superficial to keep the cows satiated. We still rule the world, they can kid themselves but they still cream themselves at a side glance from a guy with a strong chin and turn into brooding hens at 30.
