I noticed that nobody on Fox last night mentioned that this was the first season in the new stadium and as a World Series win... Then I thought of it, maybe they didn't mention it because it's very common, well I'm asking you all, has this happened before and if so to who and how often?

Yeah this morning they said it on Fox 2 news but not once (that I can recall) did anyone during the game, after the game, during the ceremony, or even on the postgame news, say it...

Actually for those of you who said that it happened in 1970, well the Reds actually didn't win, they lost to the Orioles, who less than a decade before, were the St. Louis Browns...

The Red Sox did it in 1912; Fenway Park opened in April of that year and the Sox beat John McGraw's New York Giants in the World Series six months later.

I think one of the St Louis stations said maybe twice before?

Fox coverage was pretty bad, I thought. If you are not in NY or LA, you are nothing to the bigmedia folks. But who cares, we won the World Series!

Since you watch Fox2, you must be in the St Louis market. Did you watch all the channel's coverage? What did you think? The reporters asked a lot of the same inane questions and the players, manager, owners had to come up with different ways to say the same answer. The local coverage was better than the national, for sure. Did you catch the guy on Channel 4 (kmov) that called Dave McKay, Jay? Where did he come from? I have been laughing all day about the sports guys who didn't give the Cards a chance and now are their biggest fans. ;) Also, the newer sports guys who act like long-time fans but who really don't have a clue as to how much this means to the city and the fans.

Riverfront Stadium in Cincinnati opened in 1970, and the Reds hosted the O's in the World Series that year.

The others were Forbes Field (1909), the new Polo Grounds (1911), Fenway Park (1912) and Yankee Stadium (1923).

The Red Sox in 1912 were the last team to win the Series at home in the first year of their new ballpark.

I'm almost positive that the Yankees won it all when they first moved into Yankee Stadium as well as the other teams mentioned.
